NRA FIRST Steps Pistol
PREREQUISITE: NONE
This course of training is well suited to a new shooter or first time firearm owner with little to no experience.
This course is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation 0f one specific pistol action type for classes of four or fewer students. This course is at least 3 hrs long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type. Students will learn the NRA's rules for safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and FIRST Steps Course completion certificate. Course cost is $75.00 per student which includes all student materials* and certificate of completion.
*Students will be responsible for bringing a safe and functional firearm, ammunition, and eye / ear protection, many if not all of these will be available from our in house partner Hawk Hill Custom Firearms.
This course meets the Commonwealth of VA's firearm safety training requirement to seek a Concealed Carry Weapon Permit. ALTHOUGH THIS MEETS VA STANDARDS, PMT DOES NOT RECOMEND THIS COURSE FOR CCW CARRY.

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course
PREREQUISITE: NONE
This course of training is well suited for new to novice shooters who want a more comprehensive training program than that offered in "NRA FIRST Steps Pistol" and or those looking to obtain a VA CCW Permit.
This course will take 1 day of classroom training and about 1/4 day on the range (time of range varies). Students will learn to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA's rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.
Course cost is $90.00 per student, additional students may be added for $85.00 each. Generally this course has a mzx student load of 10, however this may be expanded if additional instructors are present. Paid tuition includes all student materials* and certificate of completion.

NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home Course
PREREQUISITE: (0ne of more of the following) NRA First Steps Pistol, NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course, NRA Personal Protection Outside The Home or similar non-NRA training from PMT or any other reputable school. A US Military DOD DD214 Form that shows successful Handgun Qualification will also be acceptable. Contact us if you've taken none of the above, but still believe that your qualified to attend this course. This is not a basic level course and those attending should have a solid understanding of pistol and ammo components, safety and storage and shooting fundamentals.
This course is ideal for someone who has already taken NRA FIRST Steps Pistol or NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course and has a solid functional understanding of handguns, loading & unloading, how to clear common malfunctions and range safety. The course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual's right to self-defense.
This course can take about 12 hrs between classroom and range and may be taught over a two day period. Students may use any safe and functional handgun, but those in defensive calibers of at least, .38 Special for revolvers and .9mm for semi-autos are recommended as this is a defensive shooting course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 150 rounds of ammunition standing and kneeling. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection In The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, the Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, and course completion certificate.*
Course cost is $120.00 per student which includes all student materials* and certificate of completion.
